Laser Dentistry
As of January 2008 we are the only office in the Providence, Rhode Island area
to employ the new Waterlase MD dental laser. It is the only FDA approved laser
for hard/soft tissue dentistry.
Laser dentistry means no drilling.
It also often means no shots - the laser is virtually painless and temporarily
numbs the tooth as it is used. The numbness usually wears off in less
than 10 minutes.
Lasers are wonderful for treating gum disease; in most cases we can
avoid sending you to the gum surgeon. Rather than cut away the detached
and diseased gums, the laser can cause them to heal and reattach to the
teeth. Not only do you avoid gum surgery, but also you avoid the sensitivity
that occurs when the gums are cut away and the sensitive tooth roots are
exposed.
Cosmetic dentistry is greatly enhanced by the laser as well. Cosmetic
gum recontouring prior to Veneers, Lumineers, Crowns, or Implant dentistry
gives you a better looking final result.
Also, the laser is great at eliminating painful canker sores and unsightly cold
sores and lip sores.
We are more excited about the laser than any other aspect of dentistry. Come and

This patient came to us requesting veneers on her two front teeth because she thought they looked small. After a quick 10 minute procedure with the laser it is clear that veneers were not needed. This photo was taken ONE MINUTE after the surgery was complete!
